Most search engines work in a very similar manner. Keywords are input and the search engine searches for files or webpages that contain your keyword. A keyword is a word related to the topic you are searching for.

Selecting Keywords
- - - Select precise words related to your topic.
- - - When looking for teaching resources, use words like "teacher
- - - guide" or "lesson plan" with your keyword search.
- - - Students would want to use keywords like "student projects",
- - - "examples", or "photographs".
- - - Search using different keywords associated with your topic.
- - - Use a variety of search engines. Start with a general engine like - - - - - - - About.com and then more specific engines like Yahoo or Google
Boolean Search Tips
- - - Using "quotation marks" will search for the exact phrase.
- - - Using "AND, &, +" between words includes both words.
- - - Using "OR" between words includes either word.
- - - Using "*" after word includes plurals and similar matches. ex - - - - - - - - - "cloud*"
- - - Using lowercase letters, capital letters may return fewer results.
