Most search engines work in a very similar manner. Keywords are input and the search engine searches for files or webpages that contain your keyword. A keyword is a word related to the topic you are searching for.

Selecting Keywords:
* Select precise words related to your topic.
* When looking for teaching resources, use words like "teacher
guide" or "lesson plan" with your keyword search.
* Students would want to use keywords like "student projects",
"examples", or "photographs".
* Search using different keywords associated with your topic.
* Use a variety of search engines. Start with a general engine like About.com and then more specific engines like Yahoo or Google .
Boolean Search Tips:
* Using "quotation marks" will search for the exact phrase.
* Using "AND, &, +" between words includes both words.
* Using "OR" between words includes either word.
* Using "*" after word includes plurals and similar matches. ex "cloud"
* Using lowercase letters, capital letters may return fewer results.
